The titular character, Captain Midnight, is similar to the environments throughout the game in its reliance on nuanced storytelling and cobbled together aesthetics: the mask itself is based on a horseshoe crab, a starfish, and the body of a crab - the brass evokes early 20th century, while the gasmask and strange eye suggest some future and fantastical technology. The coat is based directly on a World War 1 trench coat pattern - handmade by myself in Marvelous Designer; it is both familiar and otherworldly - which is, at its core, the game itself.
